Yolanda Jean Kennedy, 84, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Sunday, June 28.

She was born on May 5, 1942, in Vienna, VA and was the daughter of the late Everett and Alice Lloyd Kennedy.

She graduated from Broadway High School in 1960 and from the RMH School of Nursing in 1963. She then worked at RMH on second surgical floor and then became Assistant Head Nurse on the medical floor. Eventually she became a Nursing Coordinator for the hospital before retiring after 45 years of service.

Yolanda enjoyed hours of flower gardening, trips to Williamsburg, antiquing, reading, traveling and listening to music. She enjoyed quality time spent with family and friends. She was the family historian and photographer.

Yolanda is survived by her sister Peggy Kennedy who she resided with in Harrisonburg, VA. She is also survived by her brother Everett Newton Kennedy of Tenth Legion and her brother-in-law Perry Marshman (Esther) of Orange, VA.; two nephews, Michael Marshman (Lauren) of Martinez, GA., David Marshman (Mary) of Deluth, GA.; five great nephews, Evan Marshman (Christen) and Adam Marshman (Kate), both of California, Brian Marshman, John Marshman and Erik Marshman all of Georgia; one great-great nephew, Cooper Marshman of California and one great niece, Holly Marshman of Georgia.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Joyce Kennedy Marshman.

Yolanda was an active member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Tenth Legion (11923 N. Valley Pike, Broadway, VA 22815) where her memorial service will be conducted by Reverend Michael Kasevich on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 11:00 AM.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bethlehem United Church of Christ, Harrisonburg Rescue Squad, or the Rockingham/Harrisonburg SPCA.
