Yvonne "Cookie" Genevieve Hottinger Ritchie, 83, of Broadway passed away December 4, 2025 after a courageous fight against a year long illness.

Yvonne was born October 3, 1942 and was the daughter of the late George W. and Adeen May Hottinger. She was raised in the Bergton area.

On December 2, 1960, she married the late Karl Owen Ritchie, who passed away on November 8, 2019.

Yvonne was very active in her church, Independent Community Church in Broadway.

She taught Sunday School for many years until her health no longer allowed; served as church secretary; and sang in the church and community choirs. She loved Jesus and studying Bible prophecy.

Yvonne was a homemaker and an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed watching Hallmark movies, doing word search puzzles, studying family genealogy and spending time with her family. She had very happily attended her 65th high school reunion this past summer.

She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Ritchie and his wife Jennifer of Hillsboro, Oregon and Gregory Ritchie of New Market. Also surviving are a brother, Bruce Hottinger, and three sisters, Bernice King, Carolyn Bowman and Lana Moyers, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Orvin J. Hottinger

The funeral will be held at Independent Community Church on Tuesday at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Richard Delawder officiating. Burial will follow at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Cemetery in Bergton, VA.  The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church.
