Whit Grandle

Licensed Funeral Director, President/Co-Owner

Whit Grandle graduated from Broadway High School in 1996. He attended George Mason University and later graduated from John Tyler Community College in 2000 with his degree in Funeral Service. He is a third generation funeral director and owner following his grandfather; Carrel W. "Jodie" Grandle, his father C.W. Grandle and his uncle Jerry Grandle. He is a member of the Broadway Lions Club and Linville Creek Church of the Brethren, where he serves on the church cemetery board. He enjoys spending time with his family, anything outdoors and landscaping, and an avid supporter of Broadway High School, UVA athletics, Atlanta Braves, and Indianapolis Colts. Whit lives in the town of Broadway with his wife Janna and their three children Braelyn, Cole, Alyssa, and dog, Khloe.

Jodie Turner

Licensed Funeral Director, Vice President/Co-Owner

Jodie is a graduate of Broadway High School class of 2007. After high school he attended and graduated from Gupton- Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta, GA in 2009. He is a third generation funeral director and owner following his grandfather; Carrel W. "Jodie" Grandle, and two uncles; C.W. Grandle and Jerry Grandle. Jodie has worked in the family business since 2005. He enjoys all sports but is an avid Duke Basketball and Atlanta Braves baseball fan, he enjoys the outdoors and spending time with family and friends. He currently resides in the town of Broadway with his wife, Drenna Whetzel-Turner and her children, Rylan and Callie. He is a member of the Broadway Lions Club and the Sunset Drive United Methodist Church.

C.W. Grandle II

Licensed Funeral Director, Former Owner

C.W. Grandle II graduated from Broadway High School in 1969. He then attended Ferrum College and later graduated Cum Laude from John Tyler Community College in 1975 where he joined the Pi Sigma Eta funeral service fraternity. He is a second-generation funeral director and owner following his father; Carrel W. "Jodie" Grandle. He is a member of the Broadway Lions Club and the Sunset Drive United Methodist Church. C.W. Lives in Broadway with his wife Peggy and has three children; Mandy Freds, Whit Grandle, Lacey Roberts and 9 grandchildren.

Jerry Grandle

Licensed Funeral Director, Former Owner

Jerry graduated from Broadway High School in 1971. He served in the U.S. Army from 1972-1974. He then attended and graduated from John Tyler Community College in 1977 with his BS degree in Funeral Service. He is a second-generation funeral director and owner following his father; Carrel W. "Jodie" Grandle. He is a member of the Broadway Lions Club and the Timberville Church of the Brethren. Jerry lives in Broadway with his wife Cindy. He has two sons; Adam Grandle and Zach Grandle and enjoys spending time with his grandson Parker.

Lee J. Mills, Jr.

Funeral Assistant

Lee is a graduate of Broadway High School, class of '85 and currently resides in Broadway. He enjoys watching sports, traveling, and enjoys spending time with his family and friends. Lee has worked at Grandle Funeral Home full time and part time for around the last 25 plus years.

William M. "Billy" Hulvey, II

Funeral Assistant

Billy was born and raised in Broadway and graduated from Broadway High School in 1973. He work for a number of years for his father at J.M. Hulvey and Sons and later for David A. Reed & Sons Excavating/A&J Excavating. He then came to work for Grandle Funeral Home in 2015. Billy is a member of the Sunset Drive United Methodist Church. He's an avid train enthusiast and golfer in his free time. He lives in Broadway with his wife Joan and his two dogs.

Angela Hulse

Secretary

Angela graduated from B.H.S. in 1982. She started working part-time at Grandle Funeral Home during her Senior year, and has continued working as secretary. She lives just outside of Broadway with her husband Michael Hulse and their two dogs, Callie and Sadie. She has 3 children, Krystin, Alicia, and Justin.

Allie Lawrence

Secretary

Allie Lawrence is a 2009 graduate of Broadway High School and serves as the secretary at the funeral home. She is married to her husband, Jesse, and together they have two daughters, Kylie and Mckenna. Allie enjoys spending time outdoors, gardening, and canning, as well as staying actively involved in her daughters’ sporting events, often helping coach and support their teams. At home, their family also enjoys caring for their dog, Mack, and their chickens. She values family, community, and the opportunity to serve others with care and compassion.

Kathy Grandle Turner

Secretary ~ Part Time

Kathy graduated from Broadway High School in 1976. She worked for her father, Carrel W. "Jodie" Grandle at the funeral home in many rolls as a young adult before moving on to other jobs. She started working in March of 2023 full time as a secretary and retired December of 2025. Kathy now works part time in the office Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her friends and family and working in her flower beds. Kathy lives in Broadway and has one son; Jodie and wife Drenna Whetzel-Turner and two grandchildren, Rylan and Callie.

Bradley McKenzie

Funeral Assistant ~ Part-Time

Bradley was born in raised in the Broadway/Timberville area. He graduated from Broadway High School, class of 2006. Brad works full-time as a Fire Fighter/EMT for Rockingham Co. Fire and Rescue at their Bridgewater station, but volunteers for the Timberville Vol. Fire Dept. He lives just outside of Timberville with his wife Brooke and their dog Mack.
